Working Groups and Organizational Profiles
Gaia
Education has an international membership of experienced educators
with academic and professional backgrounds in a wide range of
disciplines. It is a programme of the Global Ecovillage Network
(GEN). As a non-governmental organization, GEN has ECOSOC consultative
status with the United Nations since 1999.
Gaia Education has developed the Ecovillage Design Curriculum
that has the endorsement of the United Nations Institute for Training
and Research and is as an official contribution to the United
Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.
The organization was set up after two meetings of the international
consortium of educators called "GEESE" (Global Ecovillage
Educators for a Sustainable Earth), which took place at the Findhorn
Foundation, Scotland in June of 2004 and again at Galgafarm, Hungary
in June of 2005.
The current members of GEESE compose the Board
and various working groups of the organization.
Gaia Education remains open to the contributions of new potential
members and partner organizations. If you would like to become
involved, please consider offering a certified course in your
own region. This may also involve you eventually joining one of
the Gaia Education working groups.
